Did you know that the modern book club can trace its roots all the way back to Ancient Rome, when Roman citizens met to drink wine and discuss the bestselling scrolls of the day? These groups were called Clava Librorums and it was considered the height of sophistication and good-breeding to belong to one…
Okay, none of that is true. I just made it all up.
But book clubs are very cool. I mean, come on. Read books, get together with your friends over delicious refreshments and talk about the literary adventure you just took? What could be better, right?
Problem is, these days, people are just so busy. They want to read and discuss good books, but what with work, car pools, dentist appointments and recovering from reading their newsfeeds, they just don’t have the time or energy to commit to monthly meetings.
Well, I have the answer.
One book. One night. No commitment.
On Wednesday, May 16th, we’re all meeting at Black Squirrel Books and Espresso Bar on Bank St. in Ottawa South at 6:00 p.m., to talk about The Kitchen Sink Sutra. (Because the only thing better than books, is books and espressos, am I right?)
We’ll chat, drink some amazing coffee, and I will answer all your pressing questions about the creative process, which character is in fact my favourite and when exactly the next book in the series will be released.
You should totally come.

P.S. Black Squirrel Books and Espresso Bar has gluten-free baked goods, which I personally find very exciting…
